The Two-Way Shock Sub is an effective shock absorbing device. It can be used to reduce or eliminate both transversal and longitudinal vibration of drill string, thus maintaining normal weight-on-bit (WOB) and torque, reducing vibration failure on bit, drill string and surface equipment, and leading to improvement in rate of penetration (ROP) and reduction in drilling cost. At present, all of the home-made shock absorbers can reduce the vibration only in one direction (longitudinally), and can not work effectively when used for drilling operation in hard formation and gravel formation.
